Have you ever watched a sport you love without commentary? Or with unfamiliar commentary?

If so - you'll notice how much of an impact commentary makes to the broadcast and your emotions relating to the event.

A good sports commentator will deliver you the sport you're watching with the right tone, knowledge and passion to draw you into the event more and more with each passing minute. A poor commentator won't notice when the right moment is to increase the tempo and volume of the words because it's a crucial moment in the match or competition.

I've been a Eurosport commentator since 2017, having been the "expert" for the 2017 Snowboard World Championships, the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, and numerous FIS World Cups. My role was to explain the tricks and why the judges in the competition might reward or penalise the trick or run.

 

In 2023, I moved up to being a "Lead Commentator" working on my own, setting the scene, telling the story of the athletes, and also being the expert to explain the situation. I diversified to not just commentate on Snowboard Park & Pipe competitions, but also Alpine Snowboard, Snowboard Cross and Ski Cross.

I've further diversified since then, to work as a voiceover artist, being the voice behind short-form sporting highlight clips and commercial videos, and being the on-camera talent for the entire Planet X Bikes rebrand.

If you're wondering what my voice sounds like, think very generic-British with a hit of American-ism sprinkled over the top. It's sits somewhere in the middle of posh-English and northern-English.
I like to call it a Transatlantic accent to give it a bit of flair.
